According to Ayurveda (an ancient, whole-body healing system), there are three primary doshas or energies: Vata, Kapha and Pitta. Each person has a predominate dosha and each season is dominated by one of the three energies. Vata energy dominates the autumn season. Vata governs movement in the body, the activities of the nervous system, and the processes of elimination. The elements of Vata energy are air and space. This 8-week series (when offered) will incorporate yoga poses that focus on the lungs and large intestines, such as twists, back bends, side-stretches, and grounding poses. We will also weave in yin and restorative poses to calm and balance the Vata energy that dominates the autumn season. Warm tea will be available after class. Cost of the 8-week session is $110. Please note that drop on the regular schedule will be allowed for monthly pass holders if space allows.
