On Thanksgiving Day, the 9th annual Northborough Turkey Trot 5K run/3K walk will kick off from the Zeh School at 33 Howard Street at 8 a.m. to raise money for the Northborough Food Pantry. When the event began in 2008, Rita Matraia of The Core Connection hosted the race starting in her front yard and collecting canned goods. Since then, participation has skyrocketed and it has outgrown its humble beginnings. Last year was the second year of our move to the Zeh School to accommodate increased participation and we raised over $11,000 with 500 runners/walkers! This year, with continued corporate/community sponsorship, an official timing company, and T-shirts (guaranteed for participants pre-registered by Oct. 30th), we are hoping to raise even more. Registration in advance: Adults – $25, Kids 6 t0 20 – $15, Kids 5 and under are free (no t-shirts for this age group). Long sleeve race t-shirts are guaranteed to all racers ages 6 and above if registered by October 30th. Race registration will also be available in advance in person at The Core Connection on Wednesday, 11/23, from 5 to 7 pm – cash and check only. Pre-registered racers may pick up their bibs and t-shirts (if due) at this time as well.
Registration and bib pick up will also be available on the morning of the race ($35 for adults and $20 for kids 6 to 20) from 7 am to 7:30 am only – cash and check only.
