I have always been physically active, having been a competitive gymnast at the age of 10. Having body awareness at a young age gave me a base of fitness that I carried through my teen and young adult life. Although I wasn’t able to compete at the collegiate level, fitness was the one thing that always kept me grounded and made me feel strong and confident.

I have always been physically active, having been a competitive gymnast at the age of 10. Having body awareness at a young age gave me a base of fitness that I carried through my teen and young adult life. Although I wasn’t able to compete at the collegiate level, fitness was the one thing that always kept me grounded and made me feel strong and confident. Even though my previous career in public accounting didn’t leave me with a lot of time to stay fit, I found ways to get out and exercise because it grounded me and always helped me keep things in perspective during stressful workloads and deadlines.

Exercising not only gives the body strength, it clears the mind and makes us more efficient. Many people say they don’t have time (for exercise). When I worked in Cambridge, I used to use my lunch time to run three miles, then eat something quick at my desk. This gave me the staying power to get through the day and actually increased my productivity. Knowing what a positive effect staying fit had on me made me want to share this and motivate others.
